2018 Australian Blues Music Festival

Goulburn NSW -

The artist line-up for the acclaimed 2018 Australian Blues Music Festival has been announced with 27 artists and more than 70 individual free-entry performances programmed.

Held annually in Goulburn, NSW, the Festival, will run from the 8th to 11th of February 2018. Considered by many to be the home of Australian Blues Music, Goulburn welcomes blues fans from across the country each year with free entry performances across ten venues. Now in its 22nd year the event has been rated by Tourism Australia as one of the “must see events and festivals in Regional Australia”

Headlining the festival are three of Australia’s finest blues guitarists Lloyd Spiegel, who was recently listed in Australian Guitar Magazine's' Top 50 Guitarists, Geoff Achison also listed in Australian Guitar Magazine's' Top 50 Guitarists and True Fire's '100 Guitarists You Should Know and Nick Charles who recently signed with Grammy Award winning label, Solid Air Records USA which is also the home of fellow Australian, Tommy Emmanuel.

The City’s main street will once again come alive with the sounds of Blues during the annual busking competition. A much loved part of the festival, the competition gives buskers the opportunity to compete for a place at the following year’s festival. The 2017 winner of the Busking Competition, 500lbs of Joy will also return in the main programme. The beautiful Belmore Park will come alive with the APRA AMCOS supported stage as well as markets on Saturday and Sunday.

An open mic stage at The Goulburn Club will allow one and all to get involved over the weekend, while on Saturday night the Bowlo will pay tribute to the amazing contribution from the ladies in the Australian Blues Community with a line-up that features all female or female fronted acts including Melbourne-based artists Andrea Marr and Iseula Hingano, the Queen of Australian boogie-woogie piano Jan Preston and up-and-coming Sydney acts Bonnie Kay & The Bonafides and Sugar Bowl Hokum.

The Australian Blues Music awards aka the ‘Chain Awards’ (named after the iconic Australian Blues band ‘Chain’) will also be awarded during the four day festival. With artists vying for the titles of Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, Duo or Group of the Year, New Talent of the Year and Producer of the Year.

The Australian Blues Festival is a completely free event proudly supported by Goulburn Mulwaree Council, APRA AMCOS, Goulburn Workers Club, Astor Hotel, Hibernian Hotel, Tattersalls Hotel, 98 Chairs Restaurant, Goulburn Bowling Club, Southern Railway Hotel and The Goulburn Club.
